Jules Verne Nautilus Submarine Paper Model

E-mail Print

Nautilus submarine paper model from the famous novel by Jules Verne (1870) "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea" which tell a science fiction story about exploring the depth of the ocean. This reptile like sub is designed and commanded by Captain Nemo. This is the second submarine that Dani made it into paper model as far I know. The first one was a nuclear submarine from the movie "The Hunt for The Red October" which was not shared for free, he made it specially for his friend. You may have known about this fact that we know more about the surface of the moon compare to our knowledge about the depth of the ocean, what lies beneath it. We still have to explore more into the ocean. Deep sea is 300 times larger than Earth's habitable land.  I have an illustration about why we need to explore the ocean below. This interesting image link was sent to me by Caroline from Master Degree design team.

E-mail Print

This 21 pages template was edited and submitted by Christian Suryanto from Yogyakarta. He originally enlarge this Transformers Bumblebee template to be built as an exhibition prop for PERI Jogja, but the project is canceled but he share the file with us. This file was specially made for digital printing in A3+ (A3 Extension) paper size, so this template won't fit in standard A4 even in A3, because it's in A3+. With A3+ template you will have a 1 meter height of paper model . You still can print it in A4 by tick the size option to fit and you will have 60 cm Bumblebee. This month looks like will end without any update from me, I am still finishing a commissioned project and preparing for an upcoming paper craft contest.

This 41 pages template was submitted by Syarifdigas. He resized and also build this Unicorn Gundam shoulder part. He use Coreldraw to edit the original file. Almost all Paper Replika's template can be edited by using that vector image editing / designing software, simply by dragging the PDF file onto Coreldraw workspace and enter the usual password. Most of the parts in the template have to break into several parts, Syarifdigas has added alphabet signs as assembly guide. It works like this : in the same part number, combine egdes with the same alphabet, a with a, b with b and so on. In my calculation this Unicorn when completed will has about 2 meters in height.

Cangkuang Temple Paper Model (Ancient Building)

E-mail Print

This Cangkuang Temple paper model is in 1:600 scale, this template was created by Dani Hamdani. Cangkuang Temple is an ancient  Hindu temple located in Garut, West Java. The name given to it does not have any relationship with the temple itself. Cangkuang is the name of the village nearby, where the area of this sacred place was found, and it's a name of a plant. This temple was confirmed as a Hindu temple because there is a statue of Siva, although it is already heavily damaged, it still can be recognized as a Siva figure. The Dutch explorer found this temple ruin around 1890s and recorded in Vorderman report in 1893. Using this report the ruins was re founded in 1966 and fully reconstructed in 1978. The reconstructed facade was not the real shape of the actual building because when it founded, the temple only has 35% of building ruins. The actual shape of the temple is still unknown.
